SCANNING FOR STRUCTURAL ARTERY ABNORMALITIES TO THE BRAIN

Service Image 1
A carotid ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging test that uses sound waves to evaluate the blood flow in the carotid arteries, which are located in the neck and supply blood to the brain. It helps detect narrowing or blockages in these arteries, which can increase the risk of stroke or transient ischemic attacks (TIAs). Patients may undergo this test if they have symptoms such as sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, difficulty speaking or understanding speech, loss of vision in one eye, or if they have risk factors for vascular diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, or a family history of stroke.
