24/48 hour or 5-day ECG Holter monitoring is a diagnostic test that continuously records the heart's electrical activity over an extended period. Small patch containing electrodes are attached to the patient's chest, and a portable device, called a Holter monitor, records the heart's rhythms as the patient goes about their daily activities. This test helps detect abnormal heart rhythms, such as arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats, that may not be captured during a standard ECG.
